Resolution this.

Hope you are all ready to ring in a new year tonight!! I love celebrating the new year, looking back on all the great and not so great things that had happened this past year, and another excuse to stay up late, play games and chat the night away!

This morning I got my workout done early due to some munchkins that sound like 80 year olds with sore throats. They feel fine, no fevers just no voices.. so I left them sleeping at home and hit the gym early.

IMG_1231[1]

Last time I did this workout I used a heavier weight, and got 22 rounds. Today I did the workout with my friend Melissa with the RX weight and we flew through 31 rounds! It was so fun doing it with her! She always comes to my body pump classes and does GPP but we never get to workout together at GPP cause she has something called a job. Winking smileWe laid on the floor for at least 2 minutes after. It was also 7:30 in the morning and we are a hot mess. Enjoy it.

With a New year comes resolutions!  This year as I sat down thinking about my ambitions for the next year, I had a hard time… I love making goals throughout the year because I like having something to work for. I can make 5,384,345 mini goals so I thought I would make more of general resolutions this year. I separated them into categories, fitness, health, and family.

2013

20131

I would love to PR my times in both a full and half! I can do this if I focus and put more energy into my training. Run, run, run!

I got a new Jump rope from Santa this year! So far my longest string is 52, so I’m half way there! So I either want to do 100 dubs or do them for an entire minute!

Muscle up! This one actually scare me a little, last time I tried a muscle up on the bar I got a pretty fugly bruise on my arm. I played around on the rings a little today at the gym and thinking it may just take me a whole year to get it but I’m putting it out there. I’ve got to get my strength up and work on that high kip!

More rest days! Yes. I’m serious.. It seems a little opposite of most peoples goals but I have a bad habit of having to workout everyday! Sunday is always a rest day but I really work hard throughout the week, through teaching, running and GPP. SO If I am tired and sore I’m going to give myself a extra day off to recover if needed.

 20134

Sleep- This is ALWAYS a goal of mine because I really do struggle with it. I stay up late, reading blogs, blogging, watching TV or cleaning. Most nights I don’t get in bed until midnight or later! I’m going to set an alarm on my phone that goes off as a warning “10 minutes to bed time!” When that goes off, I’ll wrap up whatever I’m doing and head to bed! (But not tonight!)Winking smile

Service- My Aunts and others are great examples of service, there is so much that could be done for others and I’m pretty good at coming up with excuses why I can’t help. I’m done with that and want to be more pro active in helping others when they needed! My friends and family do so much for me and I’m ready to pay it forward!

Read More: Do you know how many books I read this past year. ONE. – cover to cover… How many I started but never even finished 93472093. I have a really hard time actually getting into books… It needs to take off from page one or it will sit on my nightstand all year.

20132

By the time I get home after a long day of teaching or whateve, I have a protein shake and throw the kids another sandwich or left overs from another night. Now that Brent is done with school I want to have more family dinners at night.

I am the ultimate multi tasker! It’s a good thing and a bad thing. When someone is talking to me, I’m listening but I’m also probably texting, making dinner and wrestling a toddler at the same time. I want to just put everything down and focus on what the person is saying. ---> My husband will love this one! Winking smile

Get organized: This is probably my most unrealistic goal ever. It is simply impossible for me to 100% organized at home. The twins make sure of this! But I want to be more on top of things I have control of like the house work, windows, vacuuming, laundry, bathrooms, etc. I gave up on the toy room and the dishes along time ago.. oh and the laundry too, but I’m going to work on it! Early this year, I took part of a challenge that it was my goal to do so and I would set a timer for 20 minutes a day, turn off my computer and phone and would clean my house, laundry, toys, dishes etc. I got a lot of stuff done during those 20 minutes so I want to keep that up! Probably not every day but more often then not.

So I’m giving myself these goals and a little lee way to get by!

20133

Tonight we are making homemade pizzas and playing games!

Just the kind of new year celebration I’m in for.

YOU?

Gone Fishin’

Yesterday seemed to fly by! It was 10pm by the time I had a little down time to myself and the thought of blogging that late on a Saturday night didn’t seem to appealing so I went and took a hot bath and curled up with my book.

Today, I haven’t even left my house, and have absolutely no plans to do so… and yesterday was busy so I’ll give ya a quick run down!

I taught Body Pump early in the AM  and thought it would be fun to keep the music rolling for a quick transition from the tricep to bicep track and the lunges to shoulders track. It was awesome, it kept my heart rate up and the class moving! In Body pump, you usually take a break in between track to adjust weight and such before moving on to the next muscle group. I set them up so they were able to move directly into the next track. For example: We didn’t use the bar for triceps so I had them set up their bicep weight on the bar for a smooth transition. It ended up working great and I got a lot of positive feed back from the change!

After pump I had about a 45 minutes to run, I had my mind set to do 5 miles but when it came to it, I just didn’t have it in me to do it. I decided to do tabatas I ended up doing 3 sets of 8 rounds of work with the incline set to 8% and speed @ 8.0-9.0. Then wrapped up with 10 minutes on the staircase to nowhere.

IMG_1161[1]

It felt good to sweat! It had been about a week or so since I had run.

Afterwards we headed to target to pick up a gift for a birthday party!

IMG_1168[1]

We went home and got ready to go! The party was for my cousins little boy at Kangaroo Zoo! Bee wasn’t to much of a fan of the slides but loved jumping around!

IMG_1180[1]

Tanner was all about the slides!

IMG_1205[1]

They had a blast at the party!

Brent had gone fishing for the day with his brother Brandon and Grandpa. His Grandpa is a big fisherman and goes just about every day. So when Brent asked if he could come out and learn some tips his Grandpa was excited and got all the gear for the day and found the perfect fishing hole for them to go to!

The boys were gone until the sun went down! They had a blast and came home with a fish each!

I grew up fishing at my ranch with my dad so I was the professional gutter/cooker! *Hidden talent* Winking smile

It was a really good trout and we have plans for salmon TONIGHT!!

Silver Dollar Protein Pancakes

It’s been snowing hard here the past few days and I can’t keep this kid out of it..

IMG_1146[1]IMG_1147[1]

I need to get some snow clothes for him stat.

We had brinner today. (Breakfast for dinner). AND actually breakfast AND dinner!! My kids LOVE pancakes and it seemed to hit the spot after a snowy day.

IMG_1134[1]

Ingredients:

    1/2 C Rolled Oats
1/2 cup hot water A few drops of liquid stevia (optional)
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
    1/4 C egg whites
    1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

A few drops of liquid stevia (optional)

Directions:

In a microwaveable bowl combine rolled oats and hot water.

Cook in microwave for about a minute and a half (1:30)

Pour oatmeal into blender along with the remaining ingredients.

Blend until well combined

Pour onto hot skillet let each side cook for about a minute before flipping.IMG_1153[1]

The kids loved them!

IMG_1137[1]

The dogs begged for them!

And I pretty much inhaled them. Pancakes that you can fit in your mouth in one bite seem to go in a hurry.Winking smile

My throat is still hurting me today, but my voice is somewhat coming back!

There were a few shakes consumed today, Although it was freezing, it’s the only thing that felt good on my throat.

IMG_1141[1]

Is it just me or is water the last thing you want when you have a sore throat? I don’t know why, but I can’t stand water right now..and that is SO not me.

Workout:

I only did the GPP workout today, and taught a Boot camp class- which I don’t participate just have to coach and watch the sweat drip from their faces.Winking smile

My upper body is wrecked from yesterdays pull-ups.. even the WOD today made me feel like a beginner…I really had to dig deep and pull out some of my favorite exercise mantras in my head to get through it. I enjoyed just hanging out at home the rest of the day, cleaning and all that jazz. Nothing to exciting over here for a Friday night! But it is exactly what I needed after a crazy week.

TGIF!

Question of the Day:

What do you put on top your pancakes?

My grandpa used to put PB and I thought he was so weird for doing that.. Now, I do it…Winking smile

Exercise Mantras

Last night these two little visitors have come to play for a couple of days!

IMG_1118[1]

My sister in-law is out of town and we are watching them while they are gone.

Twins and THREE dogs.. No problem right?…….

It snowed ALL day and night today and the drive to the gym this morning was quite the experience.. I actually don’t mind driving in the snow, I just stress about other drivers that are complete snowtards.

WORKOUT

The workout at GPP was fun!

I did most of the pull-ups as butterfly pull-ups- They are mentally harder for me then kips for some reason. But I’m starting to get the hang of them!

Check out my sister Heather!!

She was rocking her pull ups on the rings today!

EXERCISE MANTRAS

Call me corny, but I love exercise mantras, whenever I’m feeling unmotivated, angry, or sad I try to think of my favorite mantras or inspirational quotes to change my state of mind. They really do change my attitude and give me a little extra boost!

Here are a few of my favorites!

  • Do it for those who can’t
  • You vs. YOU.

IMG_0955[1]

  • You never regret a good workout.
  • If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’re going to keep looking how you’ve been looking.
  • Every day you decide to workout, you make a decision to benefit your health.
  • An hour a day keeps obesity away.
  • Drop it like its squat!
  • What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!

At the GPP, they have quotes written on the walls to keep you going! A few of them are:

  • You can do anything for a minute!
  • Embrace the Suck
  • Rise above

Pinterest is FULL of inspirational quotes, exercise, religion, attitude, etc. You should follow me Winking smile

Christmas Detox!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I will spare you 5 different family Christmas Party Re-cap post and just tell you- We ate food, laughed, opened gifts. It was fabulous.

Now that Christmas is over, I woke up this morning with a Christmas Hang over.

BREAKFAST

I decided to start the day with a protein shake before going to the gym.

IMG_1098[1]

In the mix:

  • 8 oz water
  • 1/2 C. frozen berries
  • 1 scoop Chocolate Protein
  • 1 teaspoon of ground flax seed
  • Ice.

WORKOUT

I took a rest day yesterday, I was hoping to get a run in but I have lost my voice and my throat is killing me! I figured running outside wouldn’t be the brightest idea in 20 degrees.

I made up for it today..

What is a better way to burn some holiday treats then with some Burpees!

burpo

Source

I am actually a crazy person and really LOVE this workout!

I did 20 the last round, took a minute break then did 11 more rounds. I was dripping by the end and felt SO much better!

IMG_1101[1]

I felt like a holiday SLUG when I woke up this morning and had no intention of doing anything extra today but once I got moving those endorphins kicked in and I caught a second wind! Phew!

I know not everyone loves burpees as much as me so I made up a quick circuit workout for you to do It goes by fast and will make you sweat!

minuteworkout

Okay… 2 minutes of burpees.. but you can do 1 minute of anything. Winking smile

We were going to go to the Jazz game tonight but the snow on the roads and still falling is intimidating us.Sad smileI’m not a fan of the snow today (or ever..)

DINNER

I had a healthy/light dinner of some Tilapia and brocolli

IMG_1104[1]

Procrastinating the fact I will have to settle down to tackle some laundry..

IMG_1105[1]

eek.

Questions of the Day:

Do you love burpees or loathe them?

Name your most hated chore.

Describe your perfect weather.

I feel like I should learn more about all of you tonight Winking smile
