New Years EVE!

Happy New Years Eve everyone!! Do you have any fun plans??
Our night will most likely be hanging home and making sure T & B get to bed on time.. but the mr. and I will stay up and write our goals for ourselves and for our family. And watch the ball drop on tv. Party..? exactly what I want to do after this long week!
This year I decided to write OUR FAMILY MISSION STATEMENT
Family Mission Statement

We, the Bements, believe that our purposes as a family are to be christlike, to live with integrity, to live simply, to maintain a sense of family unity, to be good stewards of our resources and to lead by example.
We will accomplish this by:
*Valuing truth, faith and love as our main guiding principles.
*Making our home a place of peace, joy, kindness & hospitality.
*Prioritizing integrity above lesser values.
*Interacting with each other in a spirit of respect.
*Staying healthy and happy
*Making Christ first in our home. By building family Unity by praying, playing, working and worshiping together.

These are things that I want to focus more on this year.
  • Read books- I read blogs/fb...but growing up, I used to love to read books! I would read at least 2 books a week!! Then I hit high school, discovered cliff notes. and then got to the point that I couldn't even read one page without getting droopy tired eyes and passing out before chapter 2. Any suggestions?
  • Make church a priority- Don't judge me. But sometimes 9 am church does not happen in our house. Scripture reading is little. Praying is okay.. but could be better. We are the family that sneaks in the back half way through the service. I also think that visiting the temple once a month is important. Since I was pregnant we didn't make it a top priority as it should of been.
  • Plan meals- lets face it.. lately I open my fridge and just stare at everything, trying to decide what I want to make for dinner. The mister hasn't been home at night due to a crazy work schedule so I just give up and heat up some frozen veggies and make a protein shake and call it good.
  • Finally complete thebodyofamother.com.. Coming soon!
  • Improve my photography skills. I have a good camera.. but most pics I post on the blog are taken via i-phone.
  • Complete a Triathlon- I have never done one before and I am training right now. Swimming once a week, running 3-4 times a week. But I don't have a bike yet.. hopefully an anniversary gift?? (wink, wink to the mister)
  • Quality family time- Putting my family first, Nothing is more important to me. This I really do do but I want to continue throughout 2011.
  • Service- I want to do more service to those around me. I am guilty of making up excuses or making myself to busy with the stuff that I need to get done. Clean MY house, Wash MY car, Make OUR dinner, mow OUR lawn, (ok,  I don't do that). But I think I want to make the goal to do something for someone at least once a week.
  • Teaching- I love being a fitness instructor. I want to improve my teaching. There is always room for improvement right? I want to inspire those in my class to be the best they can be and make a difference in their life. And maybe pick up another class or two.. since I just lost two.
  • Pile habit- I gotta kick it. I am infamous for making piles.. clean laundry.. dirty laundry.. toys... ribbons.. throughout my house... I love to organize.. but it just seems the piles sit there for days.. even weeks.. So its time to focus on putting things away!

Banana Cream please!
Makes 2 servings
  • 2 large bananas, sliced and frozen for at least two hours
  • 2 scoops vanilla Protein ( I use elite whey )
  • 1/4 c. non-dairy milk or skim milk (I roll with almond milk)
  • 1/2 t. vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 t. pumpkin pie spice
  • 3/4 t. grated nutmeg
  •  agave to taste

Whats for dinner??

Well.. somone once told me that if you eat black eyed peas on new years it will bring you luck throughout the year.. so the more beans you eat.. the more luck you have.. What to make with black eyed peas...hummmmm.?

saying goodbye.. is never easy.

Hey everyone! how has your day been so far? Good I hope!!
Yesterday we were supposed to go see a play. But due to HORRIBLE weather. We decided it would be best and just spend quality time together as a family. I am sad that we weren't able to go visit here..

But I am glad that I was able to spend alone time with the mr. and our two little babes.
There is a bright side to everything right?..and have a little tummy time and attempting to roll over..

Missing the show last night wasn't the only bad news I received.. I got an email last night saying that one of the gyms I teach at is being taken over by another gym and they will NOT have group fitness classes. So to the members that read my blog. THANK YOU! thank you for your determination, strength and kindness. You all mean so much to me. I hope to teach you all again someday.

This morning I taught my last attack class there. I was very sad to have to say goodbye to everyone. We had one heck of a good time.

I am so grateful for so many friends and family that share the passion of fitness and overall health with me. My brother in-law opened up a new gym in Woods Cross, UT. Check it out! here. 2011 here we come!

Hey friends!! hope everyone is fully recovered from the holiday hustle! Anyone find any amazing after Christmas sales? Or did you just play cool like me and avoid the stores at all cost?

Today was an early morning for us all! We had a big storm blow in last night and it was loud!! B woke up about 2:30 am because of the wind and ended up snuggling with me and the mr. until my alarm went off at 4:30am to get up for an early morning swim with the GPP fishes.

I came home after an hour swim and snuggled with my babies in bed for an hour or so before getting them ready to head back to gym to get the WOD done.

Three rounds of:
1 min row (count calories)
1 min thrusters 45/65 (count reps)
1 min box jumps (count reps)
1 min KB swings 35/53 (count reps)
1 min OH DB press 15/20 ea. (count reps)
Rest 1 min between each round.
The clock does NOT stop between exercises.
Count total reps - add to total calories (from rowers) and post total to comments.
My total was 407!

GOOD WORKOUT today! I felt really good, considering the amount of sleep I got.. or lack there of.  But I took it for all it was worth.
Pre-Workout swim: was a half banana with AB. NO Pic.. I'm just going to admit.. It was to early to even care about finding a camera..

Post Swim
Oats! of course!

1/2 cup of oats. Cook in microwave for one minute
ADD
half scoop of protein vanilla whey,
1 tbs of ground flax seeds
and top with almonds
then I finished the rest of that banana.

Post workout #2
Protein shake on the rocks.
1.5 scoop of chocolate elite whey
mixed with water
add
3 ice cubes.

Happy Healthy HOlidaYs!!

I'm sorry its been so long since I have posted! These past few weeks have been go go go.... I don't know about you but the during the holidays I just feel like I'm being pulled in a trillion different directions! family parties, baking, studying, teaching, babies, babies... babies! And that is what is on the top of my priority list right now.

If you haven't read the tips to help avoid holiday weight gain. READ it! But the best advice I could give is just get moving. Even if your workout is 10 minutes long.. even if its just a quick push up burnout. or how about burpees,  Whatever you like!

Christmas is in 2 days! what?! I love this time of year but it just comes and leaves to fast! don't you think.. ? But when it comes to santa stuffing your stocking. Make sure you tell him you want some healthy schtuff...

 Healthy Stocking treats

Protein bars! low sugar. low cal. These are my absolute favorite!!

I love PB anything.. and these rock for protein bars! (source)

Jerky!! I love Turkey Jerky. High Protein and low cal!

(source)

Dark chocolate

Healthy antioxidants!! just be sure to get more then 60% cocoa ;) (source)

Pistachios

Pistachios are the lowest cal nut and include healthy fat needed to help burn fat!

and P.S  don't forget the orange

There you go!! That will be one healthy stocking!! ;)

During the holiday season its hard to pick the healthy side of anything.. because lets face it.. grandmas traditional homemade pie is irresistible and can't be NOT eaten.. right.. Go for it. Eat it. But just eat one. or try just having 2 bites and put it down for a minute. If it lives up to being "worth it" go ahead and finish it. ;) Cause of course I will.. There are times of the year when its perfectly fine to indulge and Christmas is one of them!

Be sure to get your protein in. Chicken, Shakes, Egg whites, almonds, etc. During the holidays its just more convenient to go for carbs, ex.  bread, cookies, muffins, pancakes etc.

I always whip up a shake BEFORE I head to a family party. That way I'm not deprived if there isn't many "healthy choices" available.

Chocolate lovin.

1.5 scoop of protein
banana
ice
2 C. water or almond milk

EAT BREAKFAST!!

Choose a healthy Egg white Scramble  with a slice of whole wheat or Ezekiel Toast.

eat healthy at home and at your holiday shindigs you are allowed to taste test dessert..

Check out the Bement family dessert.. ;)

(get it?.. dad mom and the twins ;) )

Every year Mr. B and I throw a ugly Christmas party and its always a good time!

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey  Agave Nectar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
4 1/2 cups granola-type cereal * I got mine in the bulk section, pick the lowest sugar one)

put into a well greased 10x15 inch pan (small cookie sheet size). press to make an even layer. bake @400F until browned and bubbly, about 10-15 minutes. cool slightly and cut into bars.

Thanks Julie!!

SOOOO.. a flower headband giveaway is coming.. I decided to hold off after spending a few hours at the post office today. I AM NOT going BACK THERE till after the holidays. It was a mad house that I choose not to deal with till later. So NEW YEARS giveaway it will be!

Breakfast was oats.
Protien shake.. HoT Pro_Co!! love it!.. WARNING.. DO not.. I repeat DO NOT heat up your water in your mixer cup add your protein and put the lid on and SHAKE it. Just don't.. It will EXPLODE! lesson learned

So when you make it

Step one. Heat up water in mug in microwave 1 minute
Step two. Pour into blender
Step three. add protein. chocolate elite gourmet is my fave
Step four. Blend
Step Five pour back into mug.
Step Six enjoy!

I promise.. that if you do that. you will have a perfect cup of healthy hot chocolate. and avoid this...

LUNCH today was a 6 egg white omelet with red and green peppers (christmas?) hehe.. and spinach.
Served with 2 slices of ezeikeil toast. one plain and one with agave nectar.. (I have to have something sweet)

and now Im snacking on a golden crisp with one tbs of Almond butter ;)

In utah, one of my favorite things to do is look at the Christmas lights in temple square. It is the most beautiful place year around. But especially special during the holidays. So many lights to instantly get you in the Christmas Spirit ;) The Mr. and I had some time to go with just the 2 of us. (Pretty sure, this was the first time since the babies were born!!!) and we decided "just us" dates NEED to happen more often!

(still the pic won't flip?!)

The Babes are now 5 months old!! say what?! Honestly where does the time go?

Changing, feeding, playing.. Tummy time.. they are getting SO good at keeping their heads up and trying their darndest to roll over ;)

.Getting Pregnant..

So. Yes, sometimes it seems like when we want to be pregnant.. we simply Can't get pregnant.. really whats the deal. I will share my story later. But I want to put this out there. There are so many things that take play while "trying" to be pregnant.
Thyroid, your lovely cycle, timing.. timing.., ovulation., weight, activity, body fat, healthy "issues" etc. SO many things take play.. (& no its not a fun game)
Some women are lucky and can get pregnant right off the bat.. for most, its not the case..it can take several months, and or years.
one thing that worked for me.
{PRE-SEED}
get it. use it. love it.
& no.. you aren't guaranteed to have twins.. haha.. FYI:  that lovely gene runs in my family...
Good luck!
