The Green Salad

This morning before heading off to workout, I fueled up with some oats and egg whites with a dollop of Almond Butter!

Best fuel for some heavy squats!

DSC_0180

Tuesdays at GPP are our “heavy” days, where we either work on a skills, flexibility, olympic lifts, or squat heavy niz.

IMG_2096[1]

12 is A LOT of reps. So the key to today, was to really not be AHAP for a MAX rep, but just heavy enough to keep good form (as always) by really sitting back into the heels, hitting below parallel, getting a nice stretch at the bottom of the squat, working on the flexibility.

IMG_2095[1]

Mission accomplished. #135 was rough and took a few deep breathes to get through.

I thought about running after but my legs were shot, so I opted for a fun Costco trip instead.

Bee insisted on walking.. but got tired by the time we hit the back of the store and took a seat to rest. Because her legs “felt like oodles!”

It really does shock me what kids pick up on. As we were walking out of the gym, I told Bee my legs felt like noodles..

Daughter like Mother.

IMG_2098[1]IMG_2100[1]

Tanner just kept asking for snacks… No samples were out today.. he was so confused! Costco should have snacks all day, everyday… how else would I deal with lunchtime and shop with two impatient two year olds. Winking smile

I came home and threw together this huge and fantastic salad.

DSC_0181

It not super colorful.. mostly green… but it was delicious!

  • Spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Broccoli
  • Avocado
  • Onion
  • Tilapia

Got my veggies in for the day.

I used Annies Honey Mustard dressing that I got as a “managers special” Please and thank you!

DSC_0182

So good I might just have it again tomorrow.. I have 3lbs of spinach so it might even be dinner.

DSC_0183

After naps today, (I even took a nap and it was wonderful) I took the kiddos to dance. Bee has been asking to go to dance a lot lately so I caved and enrolled her ASAP.

She did great! Tanner even stayed to dance around. He did good too! They both couldn’t stop telling me about all the fun things they did and learned.

IMG_2108[1]

Their teacher was great at keeping them entertained the whole hour by making it fun throughout the whole class.

IMG_2105[1]

Here they are doing bunny hops as a warm-up!

When we got home I had a quick snack

DSC_0185

I had a piece of “paleo bread” from Julians Bakery., with avocado, garlic gold and tuna fish.

It was a perfect snack before heading out to celebrate the night with the fam!

It was a fish kind of day!

What is your favorite type of seafood?

All food! I “see” food I eat it! Winking smile

I’m so funny…

Oatmeal PB Protein Cookies

What is a better way to start off any Tuesday then with cookies!!

They have oatmeal, peanut butter and greek yogurt in them so they totally qualify as breakfast, right?

oatmealpbproteincookies

YUM!

So last night, the twins got into our game bucket and spread MAD GAB cards all over!  I spent the rest of the night gathering them back up but, who can just pick up a MAD GAB card and not try to figure it out? Needless to say, it took awhile to pick them up because I had fun quizzing my friends through text, and Brent as he was cramming some last minute studying into his night.

I know you want to play too so I saved one for you!

READY?

GO!!

IMG_2093[1]

Do you eat cookies for breakfast?

Everyone send out super smart vibes to Brent today! He is taking the first of four CPA exams today at noon! He is practically a genius, so I know he will pass with flying numbers. (I say numbers cause that’s all accountants deal with right?!)

Blogger lunch and a Sweat Fest

Hey guys!

Happy Monday!

Yesterday we hung out with fam and I’m pretty sure I ate a whole box of cereal..

IMG_2052[1]

and then some more with chocolate chips..

IMG_2050[1]

Then we made chocolate chip cookies with my sisters at my dads house.

IMG_2061[1]

I’ll call it a “carb-load” for my workouts today..

I woke up and headed to work early to train at GPP then stuck around for the next class to tackle this workout.

I was dragging today! But I was absolutely dripping by that third triplet!

Sweat in they eyeballs dripping!!

After the workout I packed up the kiddos and headed to Jason’s Deli to have lunch with a bunch a cool chicks.

Janae, Misha, Megan, Ash and Megan

bloggerlunch

It was fun to get together with all these girls and some kids. (Do you see Tanners head?) I didn’t even know he was there.. ha! He was keeping himself busy racing laps around the restaurant! I’m glad he stopped in for the picture!

It was my first time at Jason’s Deli!

IMG_2085[1]

I know… I know… but I liked it! The salad bar was awesome!! I loaded up on veggies since they were pretty non-existent yesterday!

IMG_2088[1]

The kids had fun too! Pretty sure the ice cream cones was their favorite part too.

IMG_2084[1]

By the time I got home the kids had a quick nap and I went over body attack choreography and headed to the gym to teach a kick a class. I love body attack! It’s a sweat fest and right up any cardio lovers alley.

I came home and wrapped up the night with a THICK protein shake!

DSC_0178

In a huge and awesome McD’s cup.

In the mix:

  • 8 oz. Water
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • 4 frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop Elite Protein (Chocolate)
  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 7-10 ice cubes

Blend it all into a lovely crap color and enjoy it like I didn’t say it looks like crap.

Have a good night y’all!

Where is your favorite salad bar?

What was your workout today?

Bowling away the Winter Blues

I’m pretty sure winter is never going to end here…

IMG_2005[1]

Its been two days straight of this white stuff. My summer self is really craving the sun.

Bonus: I get to shovel! I strangely have fun doing it, Kind of like a bonus workout but you get to make a igloo to lay down in at the end! Winking smile

Main reason why I am really not loving this white stuff…

IMG_2021[1]

I keep getting stuck on the treadmill.. I know, I KNOW I should just woman up and dress for winter running and get out there but I kid you not, it was a WHITE OUT today. I don’t mind running in light snow… but 30mph winds and snow coming from every which direction… eh. No thanks.

I’m worried my early spring marathon is going to be a late winter marathon… I also don’t love being cold while racing… really

I also taught this jazz today.

IMG_2040[1]

The lunge track was by far my fav! LOVE that burn!

Since the snow still hasn’t stopped, I took the twinners bowling for the first time!

They loved it! A little crazy, in the taking turns aspect- but overall they did great and Bee even got a strike! Future bowling prodigy, I tell ya.

IMG_2037[1]IMG_2039[1]

IMG_2038[1]IMG_2024[1]

Iphones take best pictures…

The people in the lane next to us didn’t so much.. Tanner kept running over into their lane to watch his ball hit the pins. It was pretty darn cute!

Question of the Day:

Body Pumpers: What do you think of Body Pump 85?

Bowlers: What is your screen name when bowling? I always feel like I should be creative with it..

California dwellers: Can I come live with you?

Core Strength for Runners

AH!! Lasagna!! Brent LOVES lasagna and I hardly ever make it, but tonight I was a nice wife, and whipped out a veggie lasagna.

IMG_1994[1]

How come lasagna taste delicious always but never quite turns out picture perfect. The taste is what matters though right? T and B thought it was pretty fab too! Everyone cleared their plates and went for seconds.

Even as I was preparing the lasagna I snacked on veggies and chocolate chips.. its all about balance.Winking smile

IMG_1992[1]

After dinner I headed back to the gym and completed a fun interval workout with a few hills. I’m still up in the air with races this season and can’t decide what I want to do. Run? Yes of course, but Ogden is in May and the thought of marathon training right now seems a bit daunting.. I guess the only way to get over it is to just register.

IMG_1998[1]

I had a good run tonight, I felt good speed and endurance wise so I guess that is a good sign in the right direction! Smile

Sometimes runners focus solely on running and don’t train in other aspects that are vital to being a strong runner. Like YOUR CORE!

Here are a few reasons why a strong is important to your running and a workout!

Why Abdominal training is important for RUNNERS

You use your abdominals when you run! Having a strong core will reflect in your running.

If you have a strong core you will be a better runner.

Speed- The transverse rectus abdominals and the lower back are used when you lenthen your stride and pick up the pace. The stronger it is the more force you can use to generate speed as you push off the ground.

Hill training! You know that nice butt burn when climbing hills? Well, you lower abdominals support the pelvis and connect to the leg muscles that you use to tackle steep heights.

Lateral movement- Ever been on a trail run and had to jump over a log, avoid a puddle, or dodge a rock? Whenever you shift from side to side you are engaging your core. If your core is weak your probably leaning into it and putting strain on other joints.

Endurance- If you have ever been into long distance running you know it is easy to throw your form out the window once you hit mile 21. You are tired, and keeping that back from rounding can be hard. With a strong core you can finish strong and run more efficient. Although, you a beat, it is easier to stand up straight with a strong lower back and core.

Do this workout I did today to build a strong core and improve your running!

I completed it in about 18 minutes, I ran outside and I’m sure my beads of sweat froze to my face. I also went tanning (I know, I know…) but it snowed again and it was a great, 20 minutes of warmth. But ended up burned.. eek! Which made every crunch and back extension quite unpleasant.Winking smile
