Ragnar Relay!!

This weekend Brent and I are running the Wasatch Back Relay Race! This is one of my all time favorite races!! You run 188 miles with 12 people in 2 vans.. in 24 hours. Last summer I didn't get to do it because I was 9 months pregnant with the twinners! So I'm excited to be part of it again!!
I'm also super excited because Brent agreed to do it with me! The twinners will be with my sister in law, step-mom & dad.
I made sure to pick up the essentials today at the grocery store/costco!

  • Caffeine (did I mention this is a 24 hour race.. Its hard for me to even stay up till midnight.. this might be interesting..)
  • PB Granola via pbfingers will post recipe tomorrow!
  • Protein shakes
  • Coconut water
  • Almonds
  • Larabars for me Clif Bars for him
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Honey wheat Pretzels

Coconut water is full of electrolytes so its great to hydrate with post/during workout!

Along with..

CHOCOLATE Protein.. I'm usually not a fan of pre-mixed protein but for convenience these beauties will do just dandy. I taste tested it today and its not bad. 160 Calories and 30 grams of protein! Win, win!

Wasatch Back is a relay race that is like no other. Costumes, Craziness, & other shenanigans are involved with a bit of running involved....

Here are my legs for the race if your wondering..

3.4 miles

7.1 miles downhill

and 5.9 Miles.

Not sure how that 2am 7 miler is going to go.. anybody know anything about possibly sleep running??? I'll let you know how it all goes!!
Off to pack the other important stuff.. like deodorant and maybe a toothbrush :)
Have a good night!!!

Q. Have you ever done a 24 hr. relay?

Q. Whats your favorite Snack to have before/during/after a run?
Sometimes I keep starburst or mambas in my running belt because I haven't found a gu that I like... straight sugar is better..

  1. Good luck! Hope its AWESOME! I've never done a 24 hour relay, but it looks like y'all are well prepared. I need to eat light light before runs (my tummy upsets quickly). During, if its a long run, I like shot bloks. After- something full of carbs and protein and less fat

  2. I did the las vegas Ragnar last October and it was the best 2 days ever! I had a 2 am leg that was 8 miles and it was killer! But also really fun! Good luck. Such a fun race

  3. I've done that race! It's a blast! Good luck! I have trouble getting GU down too. I've tried the mint lifesavers before and those were good for helping with dry mouth.
