Tuesday Climb

My morning started bright and early!
Stadiums anyone?

It was actually kind of fun? We did 4 rounds of 4 sets of different runs/jumps climbing up the steps and then completed a 400m run after each set. Being back at the track reminded me high school and I think I want to start spending a little more time on the track.
Then headed to GPP to tackle this workout. Back to back workouts are no joke. I felt great and even better to have both workouts behind me.
I came home and made a quick recovery shake, I used frozen cherries and chocolate protein! The combination was perfect! I also added a little spinach to the shake for some greens to go!

So, yesterday I briefly mentioned we took the twins swimming over the weekend, what I forgot to mention was that I decided to take Bee down a slide.. a slide that took us underwater at the end. Bee just got used to the water and I had to go do something like that… (not on purpose.. I really didn’t know we would go under at the end.) Needless to say she didn’t let go of me the rest of the time. I took the babes back to a splash pad today to see if I could get her comfortable in the water again.

It was worth a shot…
No luck but we are planning another swim tomorrow.. slide not included.
After a day out in the sun, I came home and made a huge salad beast. After yesterdays salad with the garden veggies I knew it was exactly what I wanted today.

I had some zico coconut water to wash it down. I will admit plain coconut water is not my favorite. I usually just use plain for protein shakes and drink the coconut flavors with a little added flavor. Pineapple is my fav!
I taught pump tonight and finished off with some light cardio, I  jumped on a elliptical for about 15 minutes and started to read a new book I borrowed from a friend.

Yes, that is a real book. (The first real book I have started to read in a while…) I have heard nothing but good things about this book so I am excited to really get in to it.
Has anyone read it yet?
I’m off to bed, tomorrow the plan is to start it off with a hike up my favorite trail!
Question of the day:
What is your favorite flavor of coconut water?
Track Workouts? Yay or Nay?

Blog Birthday + Vita CoCo--GIVEAWAY!

I can't believe I have been blogging for just over a year now! I started this blog just for my record and to help me get back into my pre-baby shape! And it has turned into SOOO much more! I have made so many connections to other bloggers in turn become good friends! Not only that, my blog is a way for me to do and talk about what I am most passionate about and that is helping others acheive their health goals, rather it be in nutrition or fitness alike. So THANK YOU to everyone out there and the inspiration you are to me in my life! I wish I could give you all a big hug and introduce myself but how about I not sound so creepy and just do a giveaway?

{Vita CoCo}

It is no secret that I 'am a huge fan of coconut water! I was first introduced to coco water by a friend, right before a big race last year. Hydration is key during a race to avoid cramping, improved performance and ensure a good recovery. I now make sure to bring along a few Vita CoCo's to every race I participate in, and also include them in my diet to help me through long training days!
Packed Race Food (for my last relay)-- :) Vita CoCo is in the center!

Vita CoCo comes in a portable, recyclable container! This makes it a perfect on the go drink! It even fits perfectly in my tri suit pocket when I'm on a long bike ride.

My new favorite flavor!

You just can't go wrong with any flavor!

What are the Benefits of Coconut water?

  • It contains 5 electrolytes that our bodies need, Potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, sodium and calcium!
  • It is an all natural drink, it does not contain any perservatives, fats or cholesterol.
  • Aids in Digestion
  • Helps prevent acne!
  • Contains more potassium then 2 bananas!
  • It also contains 15 times more potassium then leading sports drinks.
  • Contains Vitamin C which helps improve your immune system!
  • Can help lower blood pressure.

Those are some benefits to drink to! I will admit that since I have been drinking coconut water, my face has been clearer then it has been in the past, and I don't cramp up as easy during a swim when I have one before. I also consumed one after each one of my legs of the epic relay and my recovery was great! I was back in the gym the next day!

Nutrition Facts:

The nutrition facts are fantastic to boot. This is the tangerine flavor. Rounding in at 70 calories, 0 fat, with 740 mg of Potassium!! It does contain about 17g of sugar but be aware that it is naturally occurring sugar and not artificial, added sugar/syrup that is other leading sports drinks and sodas.

The first time I tasted Coconut water I was expecting a Pina colada taste. However, that is not the case.. so don't expect that or you will be disappointed. Its more of a mild taste that takes a little getting used to. After trying a few different flavors I became use to the natural flavor of a coconut! Personally, my favorite coconut water are the ones with added fruit! They give it a little extra sweetness.

Vita CoCo has offered to give one lucky winner a whole CASE of assorted flavors!

    Ragnar Relay!!

This weekend Brent and I are running the Wasatch Back Relay Race! This is one of my all time favorite races!! You run 188 miles with 12 people in 2 vans.. in 24 hours. Last summer I didn't get to do it because I was 9 months pregnant with the twinners! So I'm excited to be part of it again!!
I'm also super excited because Brent agreed to do it with me! The twinners will be with my sister in law, step-mom & dad.
I made sure to pick up the essentials today at the grocery store/costco!

    • Caffeine (did I mention this is a 24 hour race.. Its hard for me to even stay up till midnight.. this might be interesting..)
    • PB Granola via pbfingers will post recipe tomorrow!
    • Protein shakes
    • Coconut water
    • Almonds
    • Larabars for me Clif Bars for him
    • Bananas
    • Apples
    • Oranges
    • Honey wheat Pretzels

Coconut water is full of electrolytes so its great to hydrate with post/during workout!

    Along with..

CHOCOLATE Protein.. I'm usually not a fan of pre-mixed protein but for convenience these beauties will do just dandy. I taste tested it today and its not bad. 160 Calories and 30 grams of protein! Win, win!

Wasatch Back is a relay race that is like no other. Costumes, Craziness, & other shenanigans are involved with a bit of running involved....

Here are my legs for the race if your wondering..

    3.4 miles

    7.1 miles downhill

    and 5.9 Miles.

Not sure how that 2am 7 miler is going to go.. anybody know anything about possibly sleep running??? I'll let you know how it all goes!!
Off to pack the other important stuff.. like deodorant and maybe a toothbrush :)
    Have a good night!!!

    Q. Have you ever done a 24 hr. relay?

    Q. Whats your favorite Snack to have before/during/after a run?
Sometimes I keep starburst or mambas in my running belt because I haven't found a gu that I like... straight sugar is better..
