Portion Sizes
You have probably all checked out the serving size on certain products from their nutritional stats and thought to yourself… SERIOUSLY?
I have the hardest time controlling my portions when it comes to certain things.. ahem.. almond butter.. cough cough.
Here are some other examples..
cream- 1/2 C. – Really.. that’s like two spoonful's.
source
Girl Scout Cookies—2 cookies. I don’t know about you but I know people who eat those by the sleeve.
Cereal—Portion sizes on cereal can range from 1/2 C- 1 C. Who really just eats 1/2 C. of cereal?
source
Tortilla Chips—Nothing is more addicting when paired with some gauc and salsa.. Do you ever stop at 7 chips??
Portion sizes are commonly ignored in todays world. I don't think that most of them are not "ideal" either! Which is why your bowl of cereal can easily top off at 500-600 calories!
In fact, portion sizes have exploded in restaurants, family parties, etc. More the better?
Its about time we all started paying attention to them. Portion sizes are not only important to pay attention to with desserts, processed foods (which I recommend are kept minimal) but in our fresh foods to!
Web MD has a great printable guide you can print and keep in your purse or tape to your fridge!
Check out your plate! I also recommend weighing and measuring your food if your focused on a weight loss goal. You may surprise yourself how much you may be consuming.

Interesting, yes? This will totally help me picture my portions a little better!
Q. Does portion size matter in your diet?
Q. What product or portion size surprises you? For Ex. Ice cream, cereal, or even fruit?
I almost always go over on almond butter and frozen bananas.. (portion size for a banana is only half!)
YES! Portion is key for me. I can easily overdo it on certain foods, so I keep a kitchen scale on hand to check myself on things like peanut butter, cereal, etc.
